Synesthesia Video
For this project, I had to create a motion video according to a song, as if I had synesthesia: a phenomenon that causes sensory crossovers, such as tasting colors or feeling sounds. Basically I had to animate objects and effects that I think I would visually see from the beats and rhythm of a song. I chose this song: Watch This by Lil Uzi Vert (ARIZONATEARS Pluggnb Remix, Instrumental).
Process
In order to get started, I had to understand every element in the song, such as the high, medium, low, and background sounds in the song. I also had to note each instrument and effect, such as keys, lead, strings, bass, claps, hihat, and kick. I created a music diagram with these elements for the portion of the song I was going to use for my motion video.
Then, I created a story board while I listened to the song to visualize what shapes, objects, and effects I was going to animate.
Once I started animating in After Effects, some ideas in my story board didn't work out as planned. So I edited accordingly that looked best!
